Sept. 1, '10- Russ was asked by SANYO to try out their new Xacti Sound Recorder on BoomBox’s last tour. They advertise the recorder as the “slimmest and lightest in the world.” Some of Russ’s review is a bit Greek to us too but the bottom line is he dug it. -- "The Xacti Sound Recorder is really cool, really small, really convenient. The best handheld recorder on the market. It is literally 1/5 the size of my old recorder, which I was happy with, until I found the Sanyo. Really small, easily slides into jeans pocket, no excuse to not have this with you. I record lots of sounds to add into our ever growing sample library which is the foundation that we build our trax from. I primarily use Ableton Live and Logic in the studio, and the files easily drag and drop from the Xacti to whatever software platform I'm working on. It is very well built. I'm pretty tough on gear and have actually dropped this recorder a few times, even from my moving bike and it still works great. I like recording city sounds, like trains and automobile traffic, and trucks loading and unloading, even the cicadas in the evenings. All these different sounds are captured beautifully with the Xacti using the internal mic. I use the uncompressed PCM mode, and the recordings have great dynamic range and stereo imaging. Pretty easy to get an awesome recording with the Xacti, you just turn it on, hit record and point it at something that sounds cool. Controls are really intuitive like manual level adjustment, EQ, limiting, and HPF. I charge the recorder and transfer files via the included USB cable. The thing even has an 1/8" input jack, which I have actually used to get a few seconds of an idea/demo from Zion's iPod. A must have for any producer. The quickest way to audibly capture any moment. A permanent fixture in my backpack and audio tool chest. You can also change the playback speed of the recorded material without affect the pitch, which can introduce lots of interesting possibilities.”

Festival season has almost arrived and BoomBox is gearing up for the most action packed Summer yet! Late April hits with two late night events hosted by our friends Taboot Art at NOLA’s Jazz Fest. On Memorial Day weekend the boys head to the upper midwest for a double festie weekend so pick your spot and get to either Summer Camp in Illinois or Bella Madre in Minnesota!

June, oh sweet June, brings a return to Arkansas for two sets at Wakarusa. Then back out to Colorado for the first time since the Sold Out tour in March to headline the Fibark Festival in Salida, and then a big party in Denver where BoomBox headlines the Westword Music Showcase with Ghostland Observatory!

In July the parties just keep popping with big slots at Forecastle Music Festival in Kentucky and Grateful Fest in Ohio at the legendary Nelson Ledges Park. Just as you think things might slow down in August, they actually hit harder with a play at Underground Sound at Camp Zoe in Missouri and a cracking party at one of CO’s largest events, Mile High Music Festival!

Thank you for already making this the best summer in BoomBox history and representing the BBc at all of these events! Check the official BoomBox calendar for more details.

BoomBox would like to thank everyone for creating a ticket frenzy for the up-coming NYC performance. Due to the energy surrounding the show, it has been moved to the Highline Ballroom, a larger venue, that will allow for all ages to attend. The one-night performance starting at 11pm with opener, Matt Porter, is sure to keep the dance floor open late. Advance ticket purchase is encouraged!

The Colorado tour was awesome, thanks for helping us sell it out! The love and support from Coloradians is amazing. We WILL be back soon! --April tour's been announced, stoked to play NYC, Baltimore, OH, MI and more. Quick announcement about our NYC stop: Due to a large amount of presales at the Studio @ Webster Hall, we've moved the show to a larger room. Colorado tour has kicked off! We really appreciate all the CO love, so TRiPP Shealy (TabootArt in Denver) has created six different posters, one for each stop of the tour. If you buy a poster at any show, you will receive a stamped card. Bring that card to the merch table at another CO stop and we'll stamp it again and put your name on a list to receive a free download of a new song. If you make it to at least 3 out of the 6 CO shows, we'll stamp it again and add you to a list to get the entire new album, downriverelectric, for free! Album's drop date is in sight, and as soon as it's live, we'll get in touch with those who qualify and send you your free download or album! -Also, check our show page, April tour announced! Due to a passing of a family member, BoomBox has regretfully canceled their set for tomorrow night’s show at the Nocturnum, in Eureka, CA to briefly return home to attend a funeral and spend time with family. However, because of the overwhelming support the group has received on the West Coast, performances in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego will remain scheduled as planned.

Godchaux explains, “I want to thank everyone for the support on this West Coast run. We are really honored to share what we all share together at shows.” He continues, “My family’s encouragement and your support led us to the obvious decision to return back to California on Thursday (October 8th) to perform in San Francisco and finish the remainder of the tour.”

Fans planning on attending the show in Eureka will still be treated to a night of music from Ana Sia who has been touring with BoomBox on this West Coast tour and are encourage to make the trip to San Francisco to see BoomBox perform on Thursday, October 8th at the Independent.

The band thanks everyone for their support and kind thoughts.

Just a quick shout out to let everyone know that BoomBox apologizes to everyone who came out to see them in Seattle at Showbox SODO Lounge on Friday night. You did not get a full show, but for reasons beyond BoomBox's control...

The lowdown is that even after sound checks, the power and sound went out at the venue multiple times. They lost stage power twice, front of the house power once and lost the main PA system twice. Unfortunately, the guys working the venue that night were unsupportive of the situation and did not lend helping hands.

Of course, no power = no music, and at midnight it was decided by all to pull the show entirely. Ben, BoomBox's tour manager, insisted he get on the mic and tell the crowd what happened (instead of the venue). It's apparent that not all in attendance heard the news about what happened at the venue and BoomBox wants to clear up any current rumors.

Russ and Zion would like to come back to Seattle in the future, of course. With proof of purchase (ticket stub or otherwise) BoomBox will gladly put anyone that was at the show Friday night on the next Seattle guest list. Again, all apologies about how the night unfolded. It's not in their nature to end a show early, as many of you know... Thanks to all who came out, and see you next time!

We are excited to announce the remainder of our fall tour! It's gunna take us to some great places and we can't wait to see all the beautiful faces out there. Check out our official press relase with info and dates HERE
